It’s been a great weekend of football, and the fun doesn’t stop here – there’s one more Premier League game tonight and then we have the Champions League to look forward to. Unless you’re a Spurs fan, that is.

Perhaps the biggest game of the weekend was the Madrid derby, settled 1-0 in the favour of Atlético Madrid for a famous victory over their rivals. Their were big shocks in the Premier League too, as both Manchester clubs lost to sides they were expected to beat, with Aston Villa claiming another big scalp this season.

Still, this is Goals of the Week, and we don’t care about results – we only care about goals! Let’s get started then. As always, this is your BIG GIFs warning.

Jordon Mutch

Fulham’s worrisome run of results continued at Craven Cottage. 1-1 going into injury time thanks to a first half goal by Caulker for Cardiff being cancelled out by Ruiz on the stroke of half-time, Mutch heaped further pressure on Fulham manager Martin Jol’s shoulders with this curled effort at the death.

Aaron Ramsey

Ramsey, and Arsenal have been in sensational form this season since the opening day defeat against Aston Villa. Ramsey capped off another great performance with this goal which settled the game 2-1 in Arsenal’s favour after great work from Wilshere and Giroud.

Rodrigo

I have to thank my friend Fahad for bringing this goal to my attention this week. So cheers Fahad. Playing for Goiás against São Paulo in the Campeonato Brasileiro, Rodrigo will be no stranger to São Paulo fans, having played 67 matchs in two different stints for the club. With the score still at 0-0 going into injury time, Goiás were awarded a free-kick and Rodrigo got his chance. A long way from goal, Rodrigo thumped in this emphatic free-kick, which rebounded off the post and in off the back of São Paulo goalkeeper Rogério Ceni.

Valentin Stocker

FC Basel drew 2-2 with lowly Sion in the Swiss Super League on Saturday, but will be forgiven for having their minds on greater pursuits. Having beaten Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in recent seasons, the Swiss champions won their first Champions League game against Chelsea this term and face Schalke 04 on Tuesday.

Basel academy graduate Valentin Stocker scored Basel’s first goal of the game with this spectacular half volley.

Bjorn Åkesson

In the 90th minute of the Swedish Superettan (2nd Division) tie between Värnamo and Varberg, Värnamo goalkeeper Bjorn Åkesson achieved a feat he had probably not dared to dream of, scoring the equaliser for his team!

César Pereyra

Our Goal of the Week comes from the Primera División Argentina. Belgrano recorded a simple victory over bottom of the table Racing Club, with two goals from César Pereyra helping them on their way. His second, this overhead kick, was a belter!

Reminder : Dennis Bergkamp scored plenty of goals that would have lit up Goals of the Week. We’re currently giving away 5 copies of Dennis Bergkamp’s new autobiography ‘Stillness and Speed’. Click here to enter our competition for your chance to win the book!
